Of all the ages of man (bedside Adam’s perfect age) we live in a time when our walk with God can be greater and more intimate than any other time in history. Why? Because we have the presence of the living God abiding closer to us than in any other age. We have the presence of God himself, His Spirit, abiding within us. The astounding truth about this is that He abides in us in order that, “we might understand the things freely given us by God.”

A.W. Tozer, in 1972 published a little book called, “How to be filled with the Holy Spirit.” In it He commented that, “All the time when the Lord was with them (the disciples) He was busy creating expectation in them. He was telling His disciples that in spite of all they had, and all the blessing that God the Father had given them, they were still to expect the coming of a new and superior kind of life. He was creating an expectation of an effusion of outpoured energy which they, at their best, did not yet enjoy.1

In 1980 Bill Bright, in the introduction of his book called, “The Holy Spirit - The Key to Supernatural Living” wrote, “No truth is more important to the believer than an understanding of the ministry of the Holy Spirit and how to be filled and controlled by Him. As I often say, if I had only one message to share with the Christian world, it would be on this subject.” 2

May 2010 be a year of learning from the Spirit – May we move with Spirit’s effusion of outpoured energy! May we understand the things that God has freely given us in Christ!
